Skaters & Life

Old & Young are skating today
The ice so cold the sky so gray
Spinning, weaving, dancing
on blades so very thin
falling on hard surfaces
and rising with a grin!!
They come out of nowhere
& zoom off into the night
& buzz around on the ice
so carefree so light.
Does everyone carry skates
for a quick spin after work?
Do they stop for a pancake
on the cold sidewalk?
These are the workers
ending a long day
deciding to enjoy life
& go out to play.
Not worried about the
blade that may break
or even the lace that snaps
the cold on their faces
or even the wind on their backs
In this moment they have come
to simply have some fun.

Well done Marie Grace. I enjoyed your poem. I think you have captured the excitement of the skating rink very well.

Can I encourage you to read your poems aloud, thus checking rhythm? I think you have generally done very well in this regard but there are few lines where the rhythm does not work.

What a beautiful descriptive piece. I could picture the cold and the "fun".

Points 3 - Very promising piece of writing
