TALKING TO GOD
Someday, Lord, I will understand the meaning
not seeing, now, what you had in mind,
but I’ll hold on to you
you will see me through.
Even though it hurts now,
someday you will show
the meaning of this in my life.
The one thing that I can hold on to
is you, Lord.
You have never failed me before
and you will never,
never fail me.
♥
Here I stand today
lead by your divine way
to a place I never knew
I’d be one day.
It’s a new beginning -
new memories
new sights
new sounds
so exciting
I ask your direction
your protection
I don't want to go
and explore on my own
I was once all alone
on my own
but you came
into my world
now there’s adventure!
I want to learn more
about myself,
about life
and most of all
about you.
It’s a new beginning.
So many things to experience
and I want to share them all
with you.
♥
Lately I’ve been through so much
it seemed that I was all alone
I was afraid I’d fall
never to get up again.
But o Lord - as usual - you were there
you are everywhere
and when I had no strength
you carried me through.
How can I thank you?
all I aim to do will never be enough.
How I love you!
my father - my friend, my saviour.
You told us that life will not be easy
especially when we follow you.
But oh, Lord - I know
I know
that I need nothing more
than you in my life.
When it gets difficult for me
I hold on to you
until I can stand again
with more faith and less doubt.
Nothing more than you in my life
nothing more than you in my life
oh Lord, you are everything to me.
I need nothing more - on you I can depend.
I always searched for
something I could never find
because – Lord - without you
I am nothing
♥
Sometimes I ask
where do I have to go?
I am so unsure of my future
but I know you will show
where I have to go.
Everything that happens
will work out for good.
It prepares me
I still have to learn so much
of your grace.
At times I’m unsure
but I know that you always know better.
I trust in your love
it will never disappoint me.
♥
Each day with you by my side
is one day words cannot explain,
for I truly experience the wonder
of knowing you ...
not only as a Friend
but also as my own personal Father.
My emotions change so often
at times, I'm glad
then again, sad
but you are not like my emotions.
See my words are so few,
not enough to say how I adore you
how I need you now
and how I often I mention it so.
I try to put in words
what you mean to me.
My past is ever before my eyes
and all the lonesome cries
where I didn't look before.
My life was so empty
never knew that you can be found.
Today I can't imagine a life without you.
There is so much to look forward to
in everything I do
I do always need you.
Today that emptiness deep inside is gone
the search for purpose was long
but it led me to you.

Sincerity shines through, clichés
and pious platitudes notwithstanding. It’s clear that you feel what you write
deeply, but I’d like to see more “pictures”, and read less
“church-words” that I’ve heard before. Examples: Instead of “Even though it hurts now,” you could paint me a
picture of what/where/how you’re hurting. “Holding on” to God – can you
paint me a picture of that? How do you do it? How does it feel? You caught my interest with “a place I never knew But… what/where is that place? I
want to see the new things you are experiencing. Your unique, personal experience
is what makes your writing special to others. A poet once said: “Don’t tell
me, show me!” A writer tries to paint word pictures: “Her eyes
were wide, her breathing fast, her scalp prickled” instead of “She was
afraid". |

Ellie, you have clearly portrayed
the rantings that go on in so many of our heads. I agree
with Erna, your writing is sincere and it shines through. Keep it up. |
